Gold Certified vs. Silver Certified

Toyota offers two levels of certification. Gold covers newer, lower-mileage Toyotas with the longest protection; Silver opens certification to older and higher-mileage Toyotas. Every certified vehicle’s level is shown on its paperwork, and we’ll tell you before you visit.

What’s the difference between Toyota Gold and Silver Certified?
Gold Certified Toyotas are up to 6 years old with 85,000 miles or less. They include a 12-month/12,000-mile limited comprehensive warranty, a 7-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty and 7 years/100,000 miles of roadside assistance. Silver Certified Toyotas are up to 10 model years old with 125,000 miles or less. They include a 12-month/12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty and 12 months/12,000 miles of roadside assistance.
When does Toyota Certified warranty coverage start?
Coverage starts on the date you purchase the certified vehicle. The Gold limited powertrain warranty lasts 7 years from the certified purchase date or until the odometer reaches 100,000 total miles, whichever comes first. The Gold comprehensive and Silver powertrain warranties last 12 months or 12,000 miles from the date of purchase.
Is there a deductible?
No. Toyota Certified Gold and Silver warranties have a $0 deductible on covered repairs.
Is the warranty bumper-to-bumper?
Gold’s 12-month/12,000-mile limited comprehensive warranty covers manufacturer-original parts that fail from a defect, with listed exclusions such as wear items. After that, and for Silver, coverage is a limited powertrain warranty for listed engine, transmission and drive components. Does Toyota Certified coverage transfer if I sell the vehicle?
Yes. Toyota Certified warranty coverage transfers to the next owner at no charge.
What does Toyota Certified roadside assistance include?
Roadside assistance is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in the continental U.S. and Canada. It includes towing to the nearest Toyota dealership for mechanical breakdown or collision recovery, flat tire changes using your spare or repair kit, dead battery jump starts, lockout service, and emergency fuel delivery of up to 3 gallons (no more than twice a month).
How is a certified Toyota hybrid covered?
For 2020 and newer models, hybrid-related components are covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles and the hybrid battery for 10 years or 150,000 miles, both from the vehicle’s original date of first use, whichever comes first.
